So my boyfriend and I are getting different answers when trying to solve a word problem. Tommy works 40 hours a week, at 15$ an hour. Tommy also works 6 hours a week at 22.50$ an hour. How much does Toomy get paid in one year?

In one week Tommy earns 40*15 + 6 * 22.50 = $735.

 

Assuming he works 52 weeks which represents a year, he gets paid 52*735 = $38220

One year has about 52 weeks.  Assuming Tommy works the same hours all 52 weeks, he gets paid

 

[(40 hrs/week)*($15 / hr) + (6 hrs/week)*($22.50 / hr)] * (52 weeks / year) = $38,220.00 / year
