I like to organize my money from largest to smallest: 

1. Quarters= 25 cents, and I have one of those. 25 x 1= 25 cents

2. Dimes= 10 cents, and I have six of those. 10 x 6 (10 + 10 + 10 + 10 +10 +10)= 60 cents

3. Nickels= 5 cents, and I have two of those. 5 x 2 (5 + 5)= 10 cents

Then I add it all together: 25 + 60 + 10= 95

Finially, Don't Forget the Units! I have 95 cents!

I think you will do just fine working with some real money.  Ask a grown up at home to give you the money to lay it out on a table or on the floor.  O.K. Are you ready to count this money?  Remember this:  Start with the Quarter first:  the quarter is equal to 25 cents; each dime is equal to ten cents So, you have to multiply each dime which is 6 X 10 because you have 6 dimes; which equal 60 cents.  Now, look at your two nickles.  One nickel is equal to five cents. Since, you have two; you will multiply  2 nickles X 5 (five cents in a nickle).  This is equal to 10 cents.  So, get ready to write these numbers down so you can add them all together for your answer.  OK, here we go.  Write down these number to get your answer. 25 (1 quarter) + 60 (your six dimes) + 10 (your two nickles).  What answer did you get?  If your answer is 95 you are correct!  Did your answer look like this?  25+60+10=95.  If it looks like this, 60+10+25=95 you are still right. How about if it looks like this?  10+25+60=95.  If your teacher wants you to keep it in the same order; keep it in the same order which will be 60+10+25=95.  95 is your answer.  You almost have one dollar in change!!!
