What is the mode of the following data points: 85, 95, 89, 89, 80, 80 85, 95

Without beating this horse to death, there isn't complete agreement on this.  The answers given in the problem lead to a not so obvious choice.  In fact if you use this definition of "mode":
 
An element x∈S that maximizes the probability density function f is called a mode of the distribution (including continuous distributions).  
 
then any element in the sample set is a mode.

OK...just found a couple of places that claim there is no mode if no number has a frequency greater than any other.  Since that is the case here, then I guess the answer is no mode.
