I concur with Mark M.'s comment.

 

Is the first equation 5^2x - 1 = 20 or 5^2x-1 = 10?

 

Is the second equation 9^5x = 5^x + 3 or 9^5x = 5^x+3?

 

The exponents need to be put inside parentheses before these can be solved correctly.
