Danny and Lea each ate the same amount (area) of brownies. Danny ate 1/3 of his pan of brownies. Lea ate 1/4 of her pan of brownies.

D represents the area of Danny's pan.

L represents the area of Lea's pan

 

(1/3)D = (1/4)L

D = (3/4)L               multiply both sides by 3

 

The condition is possible if Danny's pan is three-fourths the size of Lea's.

Answer 2

This cannot be true.  Danny ate a greater percentage of the pan than Lea.

 

Danny ate 33%
Lea ate 25%

 

 

This will only be true if both people both 1/2 the pan.  Therefore, they both ate 50% evenly of the pan.
