A scalar quanity merely has magintude/size..it's a number. your speed in a moving car is a scalar quanity. It would just be 25 m/s
A vector quantity has both magnitude/size AND a direction. your velocity in a moving car is a vector as you could be travelling 30m/s in a positive direction, or moving -30m/s (negative direction).
