This problem represents a geometric sequence.  You start with 4 goldfish.  Next month you have 3 * 4 goldfish (12); the month after you have 3 * 12 goldfish (36).

 

The y-axis of your graph would be number of goldfish; the x-axis is months (first month, second month, third month, etc)

 

You should be able to graph the 4 points:

 

1st point - 0, 4

2nd point - 1, 12

3rd point - 2, 36

4th point - 3, 108

 

And so on.  Once you have the graph you should be able to describe what it looks like.
