8^x=72 how to solve

I can't seem to solve this

8^x=72

Andrew M.

Marlene showed how to work this out.
The thing to realize is that logarithms
relate to exponents almost like division
relates to multiplication.
Given:  an = x
Then:  logax = n

There are rules for working with logarithms
as there are with exponents, but this is the
basic rule and relation.  Learn the basic rules
and they are actually pretty easy.  Also, any
scientific calculator can give you the
logarithm of a given number.

log28 = x
This question asks "To what power
do I raise 2 to get 8?  Thus
log28 = 3 because 23 = 8.
