I am having alot of trouble with these problems please help!!

The income (I)of a computer analyst varies directly as the number of hours h worked. If the analyst earns $352 for working 8 h, how much will the analyst earn for working 14 h?

From the assumption regarding the analyst, we derive his pay rate, that is the amount of dollars the analyst earns per hour. We get it by the ratio $352 / 8h  = $44 / h 
Working 14 h the analyst will earn [ $44/h ] x 14h = $616

Thank you so much!! Could you help me with a few more? Here's another one: The stopping distance s of a car varies directly as the square of its speed v. If a car traveling at 40 mph requires 144 ft to stop, find the stopping distance for a car traveling at 55 mph.
