Area of a rectangle equals length times width: A = LW
A = 9 3/8
L = 3
Substituting these into A = LW:
9 3/8 = 3W
Divide both sides by 3
W = (9 3/8)/3
Convert 9 3/8 to an improper fraction
W = (75/8)/3
W = 75/24
We can divide 3 out of both numerator and denominator
W = 25/8
W = 3 1/8 ft
