I bought a box of chocolates and ate 1/3 of it and then ate 1/2 of what was left I had 7 left over, how many chocolate did the box start out with??

I had a box of chocolates I ate 1/3 of it and then 1/2 of what's left I now have 7 chocolates how many was in the box  begin with

At the end you had 7. That was 1/2 of your second eating.

Before your second eating you had 14.

14 was left after eating 1/3, so 14 is 2/3 of the box

The box had 21 chocolates.

 

21 - (1/3)21 = 14

(1/2)14 = 7
