4/12
First off, this can be reduced since both the
numerator and denominator are divisible by 4
4/12 = (4(1))/(4(3)) = 1/3
Any fraction equivalent to 1/3 will be equivalent to 4/12
... And, of course, 1/3 is equivalent to 4/12 ...
Any number or fraction does not change in value if
multiplied by 1. This means you can take your 1/3
or 4/12 and multiply it by any fraction equivalent to
1 and have an equivalent fraction..
Also note that any number divided by itself equals 1
so a/a = 1 for any given value a except a≠0
(1/3)(2/2) = 2/6
(1/3)(3/3) = 3/9
(1/3)(-2/-2) = -2/-6 = 2/6
(1/3)(4/4) = 4/12 as we know since this is the original fraction
(1/3)(5/5) = 5/15
....
....
1/3, 2/6 , 3/9, 5/15, 6/18, 7/21, ....
There are infinite equivalent fractions to 4/12.
