Solving equation with fractions ( I keep the wrong answer!)

Hi, I need help solving : (2x)/(x-3) = (10)/(x+1) —(7x-27)/(x-3)

 

ive vey tried at least five times and keep getting it wrong.

1.  Get a common denominator that can be used for each side of the = symbol.

2.  Once you have this done, inspect the c.d. for its zeros--this will give values NOT IN THE DOMAIN of this problem.

3.  Next, you set the numerator of the left side = the numerator of the right side, and solve that equation.

4.  Check the list of disallowed values (from step 2) and reject any of your answers from step 3 if they are ruled out by step

5.  Check your answer(s) in the original problem.
