In quadrant I, the tan 45°=1
The sin 45°=√(2)/2
The cos 45°=√(2)/2
The tan 45°=sin 45°/cos 45°=1
So now you need to think: "In what Quadrants is tan negative?"
Tangent is negative in quadrant II and IV where sine and cosine have different signs.
A unit circle would really be helpful in this process.
tan 135° in Quad II and tan 315° in Quad IV
If you are working in radians, 135°=3pi/4 and 315°=7pi/4.
