So (x-3) is the common denominator.  Therefore you just write the difference of the individual numerators, and you

soon have     (x²-9) ÷ (x-3).  Observe that x ≠ 3 is a necessary restriction.

 

Furthermore, you can factor the numerator (x-3)(x+3) and then you get cancellation so the final answer is x+3, with the continuation of the x ≠ 3 restriction.
