You need to rent a moving truck for two days. Rider Moving Trucks charge $50 per day & $.50 per mile. UMove trucks charges $45 per day and $0.75 per mile. Write an equation describing each situation. 

 

Also, which company will give you a better deal if you drive less than 30 miles.

 

What company would give the better deal if you drive more than 60 miles?

First of all, I think the 1st question should be LESS THAN 20 miles but if that's really it then nevermind.

 

Let x be the miles travelled

 

RMT Price is = 50 + .50x

UMove Price is = 45 + .75x

 

We simply put 50 and 45 there because we assume that you won't take more than a day to drive either less than 30 miles or some more than 60 miles.

 

a. < 30 miles

 

Using 29;

RMT = 64.5

UMove = 66.75

 

b. > 60 miles

 

Using 61;

RMT =  80.5

UMove = 90.75

 

So both a and b shows RMT as better deal so I think your given is wrong.
