The Odyssey is important in Odysseus’s dedication to his homeland and grueling fight to reach what he clearly values most forcing us to doubt our dedication to our own seemingly important values and our purposes in disordered modern society.

Hello Kacey:
Is this thesis for a Master's degree in Literature or Psychology?
Let me suggest another approach to this thesis.
"The Odyssey is important in understanding both Odysseus’s dedication to his homeland and the grueling fight to reach what he clearly values most - returning to his wife. This is a simile to our own personal struggles, even in today's modern society."
I'v removed the word "disordered". Perhaps Odysseus thought that his life in his society was also disordered. I've also changed the emphasis of the 2nd part of your thesis, to be a bit more positive.
The best to you - Bob Yori
