Glass and water are two different mediums with unique indices of refraction. Because of this, the angle of refraction will increase (with respect to the normal reference line) as the light passes through the two mediums. The angle of refraction increases because the first medium has a greater index of refraction than the second.
Note: The normal line is perpendicular to the surface of any mediums
Use this formula to find the angle of refraction between any two mediums.
n1sinθ1 = n2sinθ2
where:
n1 = the index of refraction of the 1st medium (glass)
n2 = the index of refraction of the 2nd medium (water)
