It should be (4x-16)/12. Did you forget to draw a line below 4x-16 and above 12?
You can factorise the way you show. (2*2*x-2*2*2*2)/3*2*2, then you will see the common factors are 2*2, so you divide all the terms by 2*2, you will get (x-4)/3
