how do you do ratio simplification of two sides of a rectangle

You can think of ratios like fractions and reduce/simplify them that way.

if the ratio is 2:8 it is also 1:4  2/8 reduces to 1/4

if the ratio is 32:4 it is also 8:1  32/4 reduces to 8/1

 

Determine your ratio using the length  and width of your rectangle then reduce.
