I think I have the answer but I want to make sure.

For a rectangle:    A = lw

 

  A = (3 1/4)*(2 1/2)

  A = (13/4)*(5/2)          [change mixed numbers to improper fractions]

  A = 65/8

  A = 8 1/8 ft³          [change improper fraction to mixed number]
