I need need help with this linear equation

A=P(1+rt) solve for r
 
My answer was(A-P)/Pt=r but my math teacher said that its wrong and I'm having trouble figuring out what it is

That's right. You should enclose with parenthesis when writing a computer program - because it won't understand you are trying to divide by t. But if you write a normal dash with a horizontal big line  and put the t underneath- then it should not be necessary. In this case it actually will not matter what you multiply by first and divide by first. Just make sure the t is in division.
