For the given equations, solve the second one for x, and substitute it into the first equation.
3x - 2y = 4 x + 4 = 5
x = 1
3(1) - 2y = 4
3 - 2y = 4
-2y = 1
y = -1/2
Of course, if the second equation is supposed to have a y in it, this is not the right answer.
