Hi! First, we need to isolate x in the second equation, so we do a little algebra.
3x - 2 = -7
3x = -5
x = -5/3
Now, we have x! So we can plug that into our first equation to find y:
- (-5/3)+ y = 4
Two negatives make a positive, so now it looks like:
5/3 +y = 4
get Y by itself
y = 4- 5/3
Convert 4 to an equivalent fraction:
y = 12/3 - 5/ 3
y = 7/3
Hope this helps, message me if you would like more help!
