A rhombus has diagonals of lengths 12 and 16. Find the length of a side of the rhombus.

A rhombus by definition has four equal sides. The diagonal make four concurrent triangles.  The diagonals intersect in the middle.  Therefore, we know the height and width of each triangle.  6 and 8

We can now use Pythagorean Theorem to solve the length of the side.

6²+8²=x²

x=10

The length of a side of the rhombus is 10.
