The first thing I need to look at is what I know versus what I don't know. I know that 79 girls went to summer camp. I also know that 38 less girls went to camp, but I need to find out how many boys went to camp.
Next I set up my problem, b-38=79
b stands for the number of boys and then I subtracted the number 38 to get 79 girls. Now I will add 38+79 to find the umber of boys, which is 117 boys.
