Hi David,
19x2 - 18x = 0 we can simplify the equation by first factoring out the x. Therefore we will have:
x(19x - 18) = 0. From here we can say that
x = 0
OR
19x - 18 =0
=> x = 18/19
We can check our answers by seeing if we still get zero after replacing x with our results.
1) x = 0
=> 19(0)2 - 18(0)
= 0
2) x = 18/19
=> 19(18/19)2 - 18(18/19)
= 182/19 - 182/19
= 0

Hi Bridget, not a problem. Algebra can get confusing. The answer would be both the values I have in bold above. X in Algebra is a variable that can represent any number. For this problem, in order for it to be true and always equal zero, X represents either
0 or 18/19.
