Determine the x-intercepts, if any.

f(x)=log4(3x+11)

f(x)=log4(3x+11) = 0
so 3x+11 =1
3x = -10
x=-10/3
since it should be that 3x+11>0
3x>-11
x>-11/3
so x=-10/3 satisfies x>-11/3, which is the domain.
SO( -10/3, 0) is the x-intercept.

Going from log4(3x+11)=0
40=3x+11
1=3x+11
 
That is how Chayoun got to 3x+11=1
