Let's say an item costs $100 and it's discounted by 12%.

 

The discounted price is the original price minus 12% of the original price.

 

You have to change the percent to a decimal by moving the decimal point two places to the left.

 

So the discounted price is 100 - 0.12x100 = 100 - 12 = 88.

To answer the question, substitute "D" for 100.
