It says to use the normal curve, so using the binomial formula not the way to solve it? The answer is 6.38%, but I cannot figure out how to solve this.

In many cases the normal can be used to approximate a binomial.

 

For a binomial mean=np and stan.dev.=sqrt(npq)

 

Use those values for a normal distribution  to calculate P(49.5<x<50.5). This is using the "correction for continuity."
