Graph the function f(x)=x^2+8 as a translation of g(x)=x^2

g(x) = x² has a vertex (turning point) at the coordinate (0, 0).

 

f(x) = x² + 8 is a vertical shift of x² that is 8 units upward.  The new position of the vertex is (0, 8).  Since this is a positive parabola, (0, 8) is a minimum point.  From that point, draw your parabola as if you were graphing a y=x² function.
