The linear equation is given in slope-intercept form, y=mx + b. Here, m is the slope, b is the y-intercept and (x,y) represent any point on the line or the ordered pair that makes the linear equation true.
To answer your question,
the slope, m = 3;
the y-intercept, b=7; and to draw the line on the co-ordinate plane,
- mark the point where the y-intercept is, b=7. since this is on the y-axis, you plot the ordered pair, (0,7)
- From there, b, you count 3 units up and then 1 unit to the right, (since m=3/1 which is slope= rise/run) This point will be (1, 10)
- Use a straight edge to connect these two points, (0,7) and (1,10) to define the line.
- For the question "the lines are" and "why?" you only wrote one line, you need more lines to compare.
