Find the hydrogen ion concentration of baking soda, which has a pH of 8.3. Be sure to use proper scientific notation to receive full credit.

The equation for pH = -log10[H+]
 
For a solution with a pH of 8.3:
 
8.3 = -log10[H+]
 
Solve for [H+] 
 
-8.3 = log10[H+]
 
10-8.3 = 10log10[H+] = [H+]
 
[H+] = 5.0x10-9M

Perhaps one should note that the problem should have said "concentration of an aqueous solution of baking soda" -- baking soda itself (dry) doesn't have a pKa!
