Hey there,
From what I see, the way it is presented may get me confused, but I will give it a try:
I believe the equation may be:
3k/5 - 7/10 = 1/2
with that in mind, we will combine the terms. To combine fractions, you need....a ..... common denominator. And, for common denominators, you will use the LCM or Least Common Multiple.
The LCM for the numbers 5, 10, and 2 is ...... 10!
so the equation becomes:
(3k *2 / 5 * 2) - 7/10 = (1*5 /2*5) or 6k/10 - 7/10 = 5/10
If you multiply every fraction by 10, you will get:
6k - 7 = 5
6k = 12
k = 2
So, if I am reading your equation correctly,
k = 2
