cotx = 1/3    So, tanx = 3.  Since tanx is positive, x lies in either quadrant 1 or quadrant 3.  

 

  x = tan^-1(3) = 1.249 gives the solution in quadrant 1 and 1.249 + π gives the third quadrant value.
