Word Problem Division of Fraction with mixed numbers

Looking for the proper steps to solve this word problem thanks:

 

Nick wants to make a dog run in his backyard using the end of the garage as one side of the run. If he has 178 3/7 feet of fencing and the garage is 19 2/7 feet wide , how long will the run be?

Draw a diagram.

So the fence must make one width (19 2/7) and two lengths.

178 3/7 - 19 2/7 = 159 1/7, this is for the two lengths.

 

(159 1/7) / 2        two ways to go here, I shall make an improper fraction

(1114 / 7) / 2

1114 / 14

79 8/14

79 4/7

 

 

Each length shall be 79 4/7 feet.

 

Check:

79 4/7 + 79 4/7 + 19 2/7
