The Willis Tower previously known as The Sears Tower in Chicago is about 1,460 feet tall. If you took an elevator 0.75 the way up the tower, how far from the ground would you be in feet? How do I solve this?

You can either multiply 1460 by .75, or by 3/4.

 

Or you can take the longer but easier route: if you know that .75 = 3/4, you can divide the 1460 by 4 (for 4 quarters) to give you one quarter, then multiply that by 3. :-)

 

Any way you choose to do it, you should come up with...

 

1,095 feet.
