In the equation y = a cos bx, the absolute value of a is the amplitude and b is your frequency....so π/2 is your frequency.
b) the period is related to the frequency by the formula period * frequency = 2π.
So if your period is 4, you get 4f=2π or f = π/2. Since you now have the frequency and amplitude, you can plug it into the first problems general equation to get d=5cos ((π/2) t).
