I sort of feel proud of myself when I'm able to put the word "converse" or "conversely" into a sentence! Hard to think of a really good example, but here's one: "People who are involved with the organization don't have many complaints because they know the way things work. Conversely, people who complain a great deal are not very involved in the day to day here."

A word I learned recently that made me feel smarter just for knowing it is “zeitgeist” … it means “the defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time.” It’s a great word to have as part of your vocabulary if you are doing something like cultural or historical analysis in an academic context.
