Hi Tina,
If you’re nervous about your first interview, that’s totally normal. For a bank teller job, they’ll want to see that you’re friendly, honest, and good with people and numbers.
Start by looking at the job description so you know what they’re looking for. Practice answering questions like “Tell me about yourself,” “Why do you want to work here,” and “How do you handle stress.” Keep your answers short and focus on your strengths.
Dress neatly, show up early, and bring a copy of your resume. Smile, make eye contact, and speak clearly. It’s okay to pause before answering. You can also ask a question at the end like “What does a typical day look like here?”
They just want to see if you’re polite, dependable, and eager to learn. Be yourself and show them you’re ready to do the job.

Hi, Tina:
Take a deep breath - you've got this! It's completely normal to feel nervous about your first interview, and the fact that you're reaching out for guidance shows you're already taking the right steps to prepare.
Here's the encouraging truth: interviewing is a skill that can be learned, and you have more to offer than you might realize. The bank chose to interview you based on your application, which means they already see potential in you.
For a bank teller position, focus on highlighting your strengths in customer service, attention to detail, and trustworthiness. Think about experiences from school, volunteer work, or even personal situations where you've demonstrated these qualities. Practice talking about yourself in a positive way - this isn't bragging, it's helping them see why you'd be great for the role.
Some practical preparation tips: research the bank beforehand so you can speak knowledgeably about why you want to work there specifically. Prepare answers for common questions like "Tell me about yourself" and "Why do you want this job?" Practice your responses out loud - even in the mirror - until they feel natural.
Remember, the interviewer wants you to succeed. They're not trying to trick you; they're trying to see if you'd be a good fit for their team. Be authentic, ask thoughtful questions about the role, and let your genuine interest shine through.
You're going to do better than you think. This nervousness you're feeling? It shows you care, and that's exactly the kind of person they want representing their bank. You've got the strength to handle this - now go show them what you're made of!

Outfit- Choose your outfit in advance. be sure it fits you properly and is professional. Bank teller is a high-end job so most would probably have a dress code of business or business casual. Be clean and presentable.
Study the job description- read the job description over, come up with any questions you may have for the interviewer, and make sure you fully understand the responsibilities of the position.
Prepare questions- Come up with questions to ask the interviewer, this is always a good thing to do. These can be questions regarding benefits or schedule, though some companies wait until the onboarding processes to give that kind of information; but it's good to ask during the interview anyways. Other questions can be "What kind of resources are available to new employees (ie training, sign-on bonus, 30-day first hire probation period, etc). Can also ask questions about the company itself, the interviewer's position with the company, and the interviewer's opinion on the company, etc.
Be prepared with your answers- Many interviews have the same basic flow. Invite, introductions, questions, your Q & A, review. They will ask you about your education, experiences, and life; this is so that they can get to know you and see of you will be a good fit as far as skillset and cultural fit. Most frequently asked questions: "Why do you think you are a good fit for this role?", "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Answer these honesly,...but not too honestly. Even if you know you will only be in that role for a year, say something like "I wish to see mysefl advance my skill set and move into a managerial position." This shows that you are wanting to advance and possibly stay with the company long-term. Ambition and forward thinking into the future can impress managers. If you need a moment to think about your answer "That's a good question, ....." Don't spend more than three seconds thinking about an answer. -there are many example questions that are commonly asked on the internet.
Breathe and relax- We all get nervous during interviews, especially for our first. Just remember to breathe and relax. Before going in take 3 long deep breaths. Maintaining composure under stress shows how you will react under pressure during the job.
Edicatte- Smile, look happy to be there; as nervous as you may be. If it's an in-person interview, stand up when the interviewer comes out, shake their hand, make good eye contact, wait for them to sit first, and have good posture. Thank them again at the end of the interview "Thank you for making time to meet with me today". Shank their hand again before leaving. I always send a thank you email to the interviewer after as well. Keep your name in their head.

We all get nervous when we are beginning new roles. The important thing is to know yourself and trust your judgement so you show confidence during the interview. Be mindful of your self-talk—focus on all the reasons you will get the job, rather than the reasons you might not.
My suggestion is to practice at least 3 statements about your skills and what makes you the perfect fit for the role. For instance, create a list of the skills that are needed to do this position and practice sharing a brief story that showcases each of these skills. The trick is you can use this answer for many different questions so you will be prepared.
