Musical polymath including all areas of Western Music History.
We will explore the theoretical concepts of melody, harmony, rhythm, and many techniques used by composers throughout history. I am willing to consider any musician or songwriter since the turn of the twentieth century to meet your particular needs. Music composition requires that a student deconstruct, examine, and explain what they hear as well as what they desire to compose. The art of writing music demands a comprehensive approach, customized to improve the skills necessary to expand your technical abilities.
I can begin with a full score, a lead sheet, lyrics, melodies, or even abstract concepts yet to be defined. We will compare your work to that of previous artists to provide the best construction and hone your skills for the next work to come. You will compose, record, or perform an original piece of music. There are no musical subjects left on the table when we begin to construct a new work, be it lyrics, syncopation, tone quality, musical performance, or anything else you might need to become a better composer or songwriter.
