The process by which plants make their own food using sunlight is called photosynthesis. It is the foundation of most food chains on Earth because every other living thing relies on this process either directly by eating plants or indirectly by eating animals that eat plants.
What is the process by which plants make their own food using sunlight?
Unlike people, plants like to take in some sunlight in order to give out oxygen that we use to breath.

Photosynthesis is how plants are able to make their own food using sunlight! The sunlight is captured by something called chlorophyll that is a green substance within the leaves of plants. Chlorophyll acts as a sort of solar panel! In this process, they are also using water that they receive from their roots and taking in carbon dioxide from the air. Carbon dioxide is turned into sugar when it is received which feeds the plant, and the plant releases oxygen back out into the earth! We owe a lot to our plants as we cannot survive without oxygen, and too much carbon dioxide is very bad for us as humans.

Plants are like nature's little chefs! They use a magical process called photosynthesis to cook up their own food. By soaking up sunlight, they mix it with carbon dioxide and water to create delicious food for themselves—and as a bonus, they release oxygen for us to breathe!
