We shall start out easy to get the blood pumping to the brain:
I know that once school ends, no one wants to even consider HW.- let alone math:
For all those K-6 math whizzes out there:
W + 5 = 18
Don't know, well let me help you out:
- The goal of algebra is to solve systematic equations.
- Firstly, we want to isolate the variable on one side of the question. The best way do this that I've found is to keep it on the left. Sometimes that is not possible.
- In order to isolate, because 5 is positive, we want to subtract 5 from both sides.
- This results in, W = + 5 - 5 = 18 - 5
- Finally, W = 13
*Note: If you are currently in K, 1st, or 2nd grade and do not understand, do not worry as this has come from the 3rd grade mathematics curriculum.

The math teacher must first tutor the math student about axioms or laws of equality, balance, and addition, and subtraction in order to demonstrate that negative numbers and positive numbers can be added. First, draw a number line, showing left is subtraction and right is positive in analyzing the 4 quadrants. Thus, the problem becomes fluid--a high school student could do this problem, using slope formula.
