When you say "um" are you referring to micro-moles? And when you say "mcg" are you referring to micrograms?
If so, you need to use the molar mass to convert. You would multiply the number of micro-moles ("um") by the molar mass and the result would be in micrograms ("mcg").
For instance, if the substance was lithium and you had 12 micro-moles, you look up lithium on the periodic table and see that it has a molar mass of 6.941 g/mol (which can also be considered 6.941 "mcg"/"um") so multiply 12 by 6.941 to get 83 micrograms.
