Ten workers will be stuffing envelopes with letters to prospective clients. Each worker has to stuff, seal, address, and stamp 1,000 envelopes. However, there is no company letterhead available. The mailroom clerks make an order for letterhead to be delivered to the workers in order for each one to be able to finish their project. If each pack of letterhead brings 500 sheets, how many packs does the mail room need to order so that each worker can meet their goal?

Answer 1

First calculate how many sheets of letterhead are needed 

 

10 workers * (1000 sheets / worker) = 10000 sheets 

 

Then calculate the number of packs N required

 

N packs * (500 sheets / pack) = 10000 sheets

500*N = 10000

5*N = 100

N = 20 packs 

 

Check:  20 packs * 500 sheets/pack = 10000 sheets

            10000 sheets for 10 workers = 1000 sheets per worker
