Math and science made easy - learn from a retired engineer
If it is a rigid container then the volume doesn't change between time 1 and time 2. So the equation:
can be simplified to be:
(since v1 = v2 we can divide both sides by the volume 1.00 L and they both cancel out)
p1 = 660 torr
T1 = (21.1 + 273.15) = 294.25 K
T2 = (43.9 + 273.15) = 317.05 K
So:
660/294.25 = p2/317.05
p2 = (660)(317.25)/294.25
p2 = 711 torr
The question asks "How much more pressure will the gas exert" so I guess the answer is 711 - 660 = an additional 51 torr
