Silvana, we find the area by multiplying the length times the width.  We have binomials for each, though, which make it a little tougher.

 

(3x-1)(2x+2) is what we have.  We have to multiply both terms in the first binomial by both terms in the second, so...

 

3x(2x) + 3x(2) -1(2x) -1(2) = 6x² + 6x - 2x -2

 

We have to combine the x's, so our answer is 6x² - 4x - 2 square meters
