asked 10/04/23Precipitation Titration of CoCl2 with NaOH
How to tackle the following question, "Calculations – Include appropriate units and sig figs in your final answers and write them in the
boxes provided.
2.C Write the overall balanced equation and calculate the moles of CoCl2 in the reacting solution. If you are not sure of where to start, create an arrow diagram, like the one in Figure 1, to work through the process (not required). In your answer, you are required to provide the dimensional analysis statements showing the cancelling of all units throughout. You may use either the multi step-by-step statements or a one-line statement as long as you show how all units cancel.
- Calculate the concentration of the original CoCl2 stock solution that you dispensed into your beaker."

Your balanced equation is
CoCl2 + 2 NaOH → Co(OH)2 + 2 NaCl
with the ionic equation
Co2+(aq) + 2 Cl– (aq) + 2Na+ (aq) + 2 OH– (aq) → Co(OH)2 (s) + 2 Cl– (aq) + 2Na+ (aq)
but there is no data to work with to calculate concentrations, masses, etc.
