The reason I posed my question in my comment to the OP is because there are many covalent bonds that have weaker bond strengths than C-C bonds, such as C-N, C-S and H-I to name just a few.

Hi J.R.S. The question specifically asked for a C-C bond hense my response. But yes, you're correct that bonds like C-N are weaker.
