The function can be defined as f(x), where x is the input and f(x) (or y) is the output of the function.
In this question the input is squared and then increased by 3.
So f(x) = x2 + 3
The graph will be an upwards opening parabola that is symmetric about the y-axis and with a vertex at (0,3).
